CSCE 4930/5933 Projects from Spring 2008

Here are some featured demos from Ian Parberry's CSCE 4930/5933 class (Topics in Game Development) in Spring 2008. See LARC webpage for more information about game programming classes at the University of North Texas.

Drum Aid

Programmers: Tyler Chamberlain, Brian Stair
Comments:Tyler and Brian implemented a drum kit for a Rock Band clone. Here they are presenting their project with a guitarist friend.

Physics

Programmers: Chris Skinner, Timothy McMahan, Faisal Rabbani
Comments: I set Chris, Tim, and Faisal to independently explore the creation of a set of demos to teach concepts in game physics. They each came up with a different suite of demo programs.

Tim used the Ageia physics SDK to create a series of 7 demos, two of which you will see demonstrated in the following movie. The ragdoll physics one is particularly entertaining.

Chris made 6 demos using the Ageia physics SDK, 3 of which you see here:

Faisal created his own scanline rendering program and his own interpretation of Verlet physics. Here you can see me using his program to create a stick figure who slumps to the ground, ragdoll style.

Java

Programmers: Joshua Taylor
Comments: Josh is working on a Java based game API. Here's a sample game using vector graphics.
